I can’t believe that 2014 is just around the corner – 2013 has just flown by. December itself has been quite the month. It’s always such an enjoyable time of year filled with festive decorating, family visits, amazing food and great adventure!

Together we have discussed a few important topics; the amazing health benefits of dry skin brushing, avoiding extra holiday weight gain, natural cleaning for your home and my new family favourite – the Dr. Mom ND approved breakfast cookie. And through my great friends at MomstownOakville; we discussed how you can fight back against holiday burnout.

A big thank you to my readers as Dr Mom ND received so many great questions and such positive feedback for our December posts – the most popular? You wanted to know what I do when I take some time to myself. My favourite self-care habit is getting acupuncture! When I am not able to see my ND, I use my at home acupressure mat. Even if I do get acupuncture I still like to end my day with meditation and acupressure. With a 6 1/2 month old who currently is fighting sleep, a busy work schedule and managing the daily stresses of being a mommy, I find this practice has helped me relax, significantly reduce back pain (I am a major sufferer since becoming a mom of two) and improve my sleep quality. So beneficial!

This December I also had the privilege to host a live chat with Momstown where we focused on cold and flu prevention and how to stay healthy naturally during the frosty winter months. Did you miss the discussion? Not to worry, the podcast is available on the Momstown website. Membership is required and with it, you gain a network of wonderful resources and an instant community of other moms and babies. Visit momstown.ca for additional details.

Dr Mom ND is gearing up for 2014 at full speed and, as featured in the OMWC newsletter, I will be offering a host of new naturopathic services in the new year;

  1. iV vitamin infusions
  2. Biopuncture
  3. Nebulized glutathione
  4. Natural alternative flu shot

Stay tuned as I will be posting more information regarding these services on Dr Mom ND and you can always contact me directly at the clinic for more information.

What can you look forward to for January?

January is a great month for reflection and goal setting – we all know this. But why is it that we seem to have trouble sticking to our goals. We visualize, but we tend not to document our promises to ourselves. Dr Mom ND will discuss why science demonstrates that writing out goals is key and how daily exposure and family involvement is just as important.  I’ll also share my 2014 resolutions – my way of getting them out there and sticking to them, and we’ll also discuss the commonality of fearing success and different ways to help us feel inspired.

I hope you will share your thoughts with me on our journey through 2014.

In good health & happiness,
